Today, we're taking a moment to reflect on the transformational impact of our partnership with Sheffield City Council on Heart of the City.
Appointed as Strategic Development Partner in 2016, we embraced the challenge of reimagining Sheffield’s city centre, creating a blueprint for 21st-century urban renewal. Over the course of nearly a decade, together we have delivered a thoughtfully phased scheme that has:

Creativity in the city 🎨 Pounds Park is now home to a wall of murals showcasing different artists.
The Pounds Park Paint Jam was organised by Friends of Sheffield, with acclaimed local artist Kid Acne curating the artists to take part, making for a colourful explosion of creativity in the city’s latest community space.

Fantastic time at REVO Conference 2025. Our founder, Paul Sargent, took part in the Wrecking Balls or Revival Plans panel alongside James Cons, Cat White and Sascha Lewin.
Elsewhere at the event, there were plenty of conversations with questions facing our towns and cities, such as how do we unlock existing value, how do we design places with people truly at the centre, and how do we harness innovations to create environments that stand the test of time?
For us at Queensberry, these themes sit right at the heart of what we do as development partners and urban regenerators.

Recently, Metquarter welcomed designer children's wear store, @nuvolachildrenswear , as its newest retail opening in the centre. The 3,000 sq ft space is a one-stop premium clothing and accessories store for kids.

This is the Gaumont Building in Sheffield's Heart of the City, which has stood proudly on the corner of Barker's Pool in the city centre for decades. Instead of complete demolition, we wanted to refurbish the building, ready to give this historic building a new lease of life, while maximising its green credentials without releasing tonnes of embodied carbon.

Today marks 130 years since 22 Lancashire and Yorkshire Rugby Union clubs held a meeting at the George Hotel, marking the birthplace of Rugby League. 🏉

Our work with @sheffieldcitycouncil on Heart of the City has led to many incredible new buildings, revitalising the city centre and creating a vibrant mixed-use destination.
But when it comes to bringing forgotten disused spaces back to life, Leah's Yard is a leading industry standard. We're incredibly proud of what we've achieved in bringing this Grade II Listed site back into everyday use, once again making it a hub of creativity and innovation, just as it was when it was first built in the 19th Century. Now we can celebrate many more birthdays and milestones.

It is fantastic to be recognised at a national level in a competitive category against seven other nominees, citing our innovative funding strategy that mitigated the risk for SCC on a phased delivery basis.
Being able to transform the landscape of Sheffield for the better has been an honour, and we want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all partners involved to make it a reality.

Excellent progress is being made to Sheffield's latest work of art right in the centre of the Heart of the City.
'Rivers & Hills' is set to be the city's largest mural at 483.69 square metres and will be painted across the NCP building overlooking Pound's Park. A collaborative piece by artists Rob Lee and INSA, it will pay homage to the Sheffield as a city built on hills and rivers.
