The Glass Works Barnsley now over 80% let

The Glass Works, Barnsley’s ambitious town centre regeneration initiative was unveiled in September 2021 as an exciting new location for retail, leisure, learning and food and drink.

The latest signing is a brand new New Look store of 5244 sq ft. The fashion favourite will be opening in July.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of a string of leasing success stories bringing major brands including TGI Fridays, Flannels, River Island, Cineworld, Nandos and The Botanist, to the town. The Glass Works includes a new public square that connects with the nearby transport interchange and the wider town centre is now buzzing with activity.

Alex Hyams, Senior Leasing Manager at Queensberry said:

“The pandemic and changing nature of the high street has thrown up many difficulties but Barnsley has managed to proactively tackle these to achieve fundamental improvements to their town centre. The Glass Works is now more than 80% let. Considering the headwinds we’ve faced it’s very impressive and we have more news to come. Barnsley is proving to be a real success story.”

The Glass Works was developed by Queensberry in partnership with Turner & Townsend on behalf of Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. Queensberry provided development management, leasing and marketing services.
