Queensberry has secured boutique cinema operator Everyman Cinemas for its Metquarter scheme in Liverpool. The cinema will feature 4 screens and will be located in the Metquarter development off Victoria Street, with an opening date slated for Autumn 2018.

This announcement forms a central part of the repositioning strategy Queensberry is implementing for The Metquarter. The vision for the centre involves bringing a high quality cluster of leisure and restaurants in to the north-west end of the property which when coupled with a new defined high quality retail offer will create a dynamic and exciting offer during the day and in to the evening.

Everyman Cinemas are well-known for their selection of quality cinema, with a programme that focuses on quality, whether from the latest big releases, independent cinema, or live broadcast arts events like National Theatre and Met Opera productions. Unlike conventional multiplexes, it will feature indulgent sofa seating, food and beverage service delivered to customers’ seats, a stylish bar and a private screening lounge, which will be available for hire.

We have negotiations ongoing with other exciting retail and restaurant brands which we hope to announce over the next few months.”

The centre comprises 44 units over ground and first floors. Metquarter benefits from a city centre position in the Castle Street Conversation Area, fronting on to Whitechapel, Liverpool’s traditional high street. It also neighbours the Cavern Quarter and is close to Liverpool One. As part of the proposed repositioning Queensberry has been working in close contact with Liverpool City Council who is investing in the in Victoria Street and Whitechapel area including a new 330 space multi storey car park due to open later this year on Victoria Street almost directly opposite the Metquarter.

Queensberry is asset manager and developer of the centre on behalf of its joint owner partner Bywater Properties. Queensberry was represented by Savills and BGP whilst Insight Retail Consulting acted for Everyman Cinemas.
