  • Queensberry adds Fitness Space and David Clulow Opticians to the curated line-up
  • Boutique operator provides a personal fitness coach for each member and personalised app
  • Destination optician will offer designer eyewear including Miu Miu, Versace, Gucci and Chanel

Fitness Space and David Clulow Opticians have both signed to open at Tunsgate Quarter, the new 80,000 sq ft retail and restaurant development in the heart of Guildford twon centre. Fitness Space is one the indutry's fastest growing boutique gym operators, and, established in 1962, David Clulow Opticians is the destination store for contemporary designer eyewear.

Opened in March 2018, Tunsgate Quarter is home to top lifestyle brands including Loaf, OKA, The White Company, Cath Kidston and Bobbi Brown. The centre has also introduced a diverse dining offer including The Ivy Castle View, with spectacular views over Guildford Castle and gardens from its al-fresco terrace. Cosy Club and Vietnamese restaurant Pho opened earlier this month with another five tenants expected to open by the end of summer.

Developed by Queensberry and asset managed by CBRE, Tunsgate Quarter is now 85% let or in solicitor's hands, by floor space. The centre has 18 shops and eight restaurants.

Founded in 2010 by former Olympic and World Champion 400m finalist, Tim Benjamin, the new Fitness Space studio will open in a first florr 4,400 sq ft unit, and will include a 500 sq ft cafe, a socialspace offering visitors to Tunsgate Quarter a place to not only work up a sweat, but relax and refuel afterwards. On the menu will be a range of post-workout pick-me-ups, including vegan and vegetarian friendly, nutrient-rich superfood smoothies, designed in partnership with Innermost. The unique Fitness Space concept connects members to their own dedicated Fitness Coach through both one-to-one sessions and 24/7 support via the Fitness Space app. The technology-led brand gives memebers the ability to track their heart rate using TEAMBEATS™ throughout the entire studio and during classes.

David Clulow Opticians will open in a 1,240 sq ft unit offering the latest sunglasses and designer glasses. Its range incldues eyewear from desirable brands including Marc Jacobs, Prada Dolce & Gabana, Ray-Ban, Bulgari, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany and Versace. The design and fit-out of the store will reflect the high quality of the products and services and will provide relaxed and stylish environment. A range of in-store services will be available, offering the highest standard of optical care, including sight tests, contact lens fittings, spectacles, sunglasses and prescription sunglasses.

Queensberry's vision was to create an expanded retail and leisure hub, with an improved thoroughfare, positioning the centre as an extension to the High Street and linking it with both Tunsgate and Castle Street. Guildford Borough Council is close to completing its uprgade works to Tunsgate which is home to a number of independents and other lifestyle brands such as Rigby & Peller, Farrow & Ball, Kalm Kitchen Café and Ikon.
